What Is a Watch Party? How to Watch Movies with Friends Online

Distance should not end movie night. A watch party plays the same film for every participant at the same second, with chat running alongside — so reactions land together, just like a living room.

How a Watch Party Works

1. One host opens a title and starts a session.
2. Friends join through a shared invite link — no account juggling required.
3. The player syncs play, pause and seek for everyone in the room.
4. Chat and reactions run in a side panel while the film plays.

Ideas for Your First Session

• Franchise nights: watch sequels back to back with the same group.
• Release-day premieres: stream a new drop the moment it lands.
• Long-distance catch-ups: pair a movie with a video call for friends in other cities.

Tips for a Smooth Session

Ask everyone to use headphones, confirm their connection handles HD before the start time, and agree on a pause etiquette for snack breaks. A little preparation prevents the classic mid-film desync argument.

Start Your Own Watch Party

Head to the Watch Party page, pick a title from the movies library, and send the link to your group. Movie night is officially back on — regardless of everyone's postcode.
